"The youngest children lead us to the deepest mysteries of our faith." -The Good Shepherd and the Child: A Joyful Journey
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a program that serves children in their discovery of God's love and their intimate place in it. All people are born to know, love, and serve God in this life and to be happy with him forever in the next; this purpose is deeply imprinted upon the human heart, and as Saint Augustine said, "our hearts are restless until they rest in you." Beginning in 1954, Sofia Cavalletti and Gianna Gobbi embarked upon a "long work" to satisfy the natural spiritual hunger by following the child's wonder, joy, and delight. Today, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is an international program that serves children around the world and connects them with the most essential truths of our Faith.
Kolbe-Trinity is proud to have three fully-formed Catechists on campus who are joyfully supported and assisted in their work by parent volunteers. This means that children as young as three may begin encountering Jesus in our Level I Atrium. Last year we launched a successful Level II Atrium for our students ages six to nine. This year, our program is expanding to Level III, which will serve our nine to twelve-year-old students.
