Tuesday of the Fifth Week in Ordinary Time
Seven Founders of the Order of Servites (Traditional Calendar)
From the Headmaster, John Bertolini
Congratulations to our high school girls and boys basketball teams for their heart and effort this year under Coach Ken Franklin. Although it wasn’t a great year in terms of wins, I am very proud of how our teams fought hard to compete against primarily much larger charter schools. And now, it’s on to high school girls soccer and high school boys and girls track and field. Stay tuned for more details…..
A big thank you to Ricardo Cuevas, Colleen Roche, Maureen Rowles, and Angelica Rowles for assisting in preparing and painting the cry roomthis past Friday and Saturday in anticipation of our new Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program for the TK students on Thursday afternoons starting during Lent. You all did a great job!
Thank you also to the vast majority of parents for doing their best to drop-off and pick-up students safely and efficiently.
Upcoming School Events
Feb 12 (TONIGHT!)– Mark Brumley Presents on the Gospel of Mark – Part III – 7:00 P.M,
From Mark Brumley, President of Ignatius Press…
The Gospel of St. Mark is an often misunderstood Gospel. I hope to make it better understood.
This is really an introductory course—a getting acquainted with the main themes of St. Mark’s Gospel.
The sessions will be held at Kolbe Academy-Trinity Prep, 2055 Redwood Rd, Napa, CA 94558.
People are free to use whatever translation of the Bible they like, but I will be using the Revised Standard Version Second Catholic Edition. I will occasionally refer to the New American Bible translation as well. I will also refer to the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible booklet on the Gospel of Mark, which features the biblical text, as well as commentary and notes by Scott Hahn and Curtis Mitch. It’s available from Ignatius Press here.
In addition to the great commentary and notes, this booklet features a wide margin for note-taking.
Cost: There is no charge but a free-will offering will be encouraged to help support Kolbe Academy-Trinity Prep.
Feb. 14 – Jump Rope for Heart Kick-Off – TK-8 (2:00 – 2:45) (Re-Scheduled from Feb. 7)
Once again, Kolbe-Trinity will be assisting the American Heart Association by participating in Jump Rope for Heart. This Thursday, all students in grades TK-8 will be receiving a packet explaining the program. Similar to the Jog-a-Thon, students will be collecting flat rate and per-jump pledges from family and friends. All proceeds will go to benefit the American Heart Association. Thank you for your generosity!
