Tuesday of the 33rd Week in Ordinary Time

St. Felix of Valois (Traditional Calendar)

From the Headmaster, John Bertolini

Thank you for ongoing patience and flexibility last week and this week as we have had to deal with the very poor air quality due to the Camp Fire near Paradise, CA. So far we have cancelled three whole days of school. Next Tuesday, I will announce how we plan to make up some of the lost time.

We had a wonderful turnout for our St. Helena Crab Feed Fundraiser planning meeting. Thank you to all the people who took time out of their busy schedules to attend.

Congratulations once again to first-place winner Joe Quinn who sold the most Christmas wreaths…38! Ivan Warner and Gianna Bertolini gave him a run for his money this year as they both tied for second place with 25 wreaths each. They will each receive a Target gift card. Congratulations to Lucas Carr, Liam Roche, and Chrissy Bakh who also received raffle prizes for selling at least three wreaths each.  Thank you to all of the students, parents, faculty, and staff for their sales! We’ll have a final total for you next week.

Thank you to board member and maintenance supervisor, Sean Warner, and board president, Tom Huss, along with assistance from new parent,Javier Castillo, for all of the great work done at our workday last Saturday. A lot of important repairs around the campus were made and we greatly appreciate your leadership and assistance.

I am truly thankful for each and every one of the students, parents, faculty, staff, board members, friends, and benefactors of Kolbe-Trinity. May God grant to you and your family a blessed and peaceful Thanksgiving.

Holy Souls Mass Intentions for November

Since we are in the month of November in which the Church reminds us of our important role in praying for the souls of the faithful departed, we will once again be taking written names of your family and friends to include on the altar this month to be prayed for in all Masses celebrated at the school. Attached are two forms: one in English and one in Spanish for you to fill out and return to the office. Thank you for your prayers for the holy souls in Purgatory.

Upcoming Community Event

Dec 9 (SU) – Carols & Lessons @ St. Apollinaris – 7:30 P.M.

In observance of Advent, and to celebrate the beginning of the Christmas Season, the choir of Holy Family Mission in Rutherford will be presenting a service of Carols & Lessons at St. Apollinaris on the 2nd Sunday of Advent, December 9th, at 7:30pm.  This is the fifth year the Choir has presented the Carols and Lessons service, and our first time at St. Apollinaris.  Please come to pray and sing with us.

The service includes an opening and closing prayer, and nine short Scripture readings (the "Lessons"), from Genesis to the Gospel of John.  The choir will present Christmas music from the past 600 years, a sampling of a remarkably rich tradition.  And there will be familiar carols for the congregation and choir to sing together.

Carols and Lessons is an English tradition dating to King's College, Cambridge, in 1918, when it was instituted in thanksgiving for the end of the Great War.  This year marks the hundredth anniversary of this tradition.  It's a start on getting ready for Christmas, a way to go caroling without getting cold and wet, and we hope a welcome change from the Christmas Musak in the shopping mall.

Prayer Requests

Please continue to keep Chuck Rowles and his entire extended family in your prayers so that he will be ultimately cured of his stage-4 colon cancer, and that he can return to enjoying a full and active life with his family and friends. Please continue to pray the St. Peregrine Novena found below as well.
