Tuesday of the 22nd Week in Ordinary Time
From the Headmaster, John Bertolini
I hope you and your family were able to take some time this weekend to relax during the Labor Day weekend, especially since this week there will be a noticeable ramping up expectations and homework. Students should be spending more time this week after school on homework, but should not be overwhelmed. If your child is feeling overwhelmed, please contact the appropriate teacher ASAP.
Our first full week back to school went very smoothly and included our first hot lunch of the year on Wednesday. Thank you to Miss Wilson, Paul & Diana Woodward, Rafael Figueroa, and Carole Duncan for helping out. Thanks to Fr. David Jenuwine from St. Apollinaris Church, we had our first traditional Latin Mass of the 1962 Missal celebrated this past Thursday on the Traditional Feast Day of St. Rose of Lima, Patroness of Our Diocese. On both Friday, August 31st and today, September 4th, Fr. Gary Sumpter offered a Votive Mass of the Holy Spirit for students in grades 1-6 and 7-12 respectively, imploring the Holy Spirit to impart wisdom to our students as they proceed more deeply into their studies.
Thank you to Sonia Campos-Balderas and Laura Garcia for taking on hot lunch tomorrow which will be hot dogs. This coming Friday will be our inaugural First half-day with an dismissal. Mass will NOT be offered in the morning at school so we hope to see many of you at St. Thomas Aquinas Church (2725 Elm St.) for Mass at before you begin your weekend. Our faculty will spend a couple of hours in the afternoon at an internal professional development session.
Picture Day – Sep. 13th
Picture Day will be next Wednesday, Sep. 13th. Later this week, your children will be given important information to take home to you so please be sure that you receive it in time for .
Emergency Form Reminder #2
Please fill out the emergency forms you received at Back-to-School Night so that we can have them on file. For the health and safety of every child, we are kindly requesting that you fill out one for every child that you have enrolled at the school and turn them into the office. Thank you for your cooperation.
Safe Environment Reminder # 2
This is VERY important! All parents or friends of the school who wish to volunteer for any role on campus that places them in a position of trust with the students (lunch monitor, field trip driver/chaperone, volunteer teacher, etc…) MUST be fingerprinted and take a short safe environment training course from the Diocese of Santa Rosa. You must be fingerprinted and take the course weeks in advance of your volunteer time so if you are planning to do so, please see Maria in the office to get the required paperwork. All parents who wish to volunteer for whatever activity throughout the course of the year, must have been fingerprinted and taken the safe environment training no later than Friday, Sep. 28th @ 4:00 P.M.
Lunch Monitor Volunteers for TK-6 and Room Moms for Grades TK-8 STILL Needed
Thank you to Wendy Huss, Angelica Rowles, and Glynna Decicco for offering to assist as lunch monitors for the TK-6 grade lunch period from – We still need more volunteers, though. Not only does your volunteering count towards your family’s required 30 service hours, but it helps you score major bonus points with teachers who can get a break. Please let Maria know if you can help ASAP.
We also need room moms to help the TK, Kindergarten, 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8 homeroom teachers coordinate field trips, parties, and other classroom activities throughout the year. This requires less of a commitment that a lunch volunteer, but is a crucially important role. Please let Maria know if you can help ASAP.
Procedure for Planned Absences Reminder #2
Although we encourage families to use the ample time provided over the summer to take families vacations and long-weekend getaways, if you are planning to have your child(ren) absent anytime throughout the school year, please contact the office directly via e-mail or phone. We will pass on any and all information to the requisite teachers. Please note that with the increased emphasis on classroom learning and a corresponding reduction in homework load, this makes attendance at school more important than ever before. Thank you.
Please continue to keep Chuck Rowles and his entire extended family in your prayers so that he will be ultimately cured of his stage-4 colon cancer, and that he can return to enjoying a full and active life with his family and friends. Please continue to pray the St. Peregrine Novena found below as well.
