, Wednesday August 22nd, is the big day! Kolbe Academy & Trinity Prep will begin its 38th year providing quality, affordable, classical Catholic education. Drop-off begins at we will have Mass at a special time of . with the entire school in attendance. Parents and invited and encouraged to attend Mass and to remain afterwards to socialize at a coffee and donuts reception from . It will be a half-day with dismissal @ 11:30 A.M. with the first bell and students will be marked tardy if they arrive after the second bell at Although we will have Mass on Wednesdays throughout the year @ with only students in grades 1-6,
A reminder for all students who had mandatory reading assignments over the summer for Mrs. Fidler’s 5th and 6th grade that they must turn in morning.
Students in grades 7-12 should have read their required book and be prepared to take a simple reading quiz assessing whether they carefully read the book and can answer simple questions regarding its plot. Students who participated in the optional summer reading assignment should also submit their work to their homeroom teacher.
A big thank you to all of the families who showed last Saturday, August 18th for our most important work day of the year. A big shout out to maintenance supervisor, board member, and parent Sean Warner, helped by his sons Ivan and Tommy. Geoffrey Say, William Flores, Francisco Reyes and his children Elena, Lilanny, and Andres, Allison Bertolini, along with daughter and son Gianna and Dominic, Anita Rono, Angelica Rowles, Ana Montiel (with friend Ana Ortiz), Ernesto Sr., Ernesto Jr., and Julian Martinez all helped out in various important capacities.
A big thank you to Gregg and Sharon Meyer who mounted a beautiful new backdrop to the altar in the chapel over the weekend.
Yesterday, Francisco Reyes and Nate Wentzel assisted in some back-breaking work to load up a dumpster, while Yul Vieyra took a trailer of garbage to the dump. Isidro Rodriguez trimmed tree branches in the lunch area. This morning, William Flores and Alejandro Montiel assisted with cleaning up the gravel lot bymoving wood, yard waste, and metal debris into one corner of the gravel parking lot. Thank you Francisco, Nate, Yul, Isidro, William, and Alejandro!
Upcoming School Events
– First Full Day of School –Traditional Latin Mass @ –Math Assessments/Placement Tests – P.E. begins - Dismissal
Beginning this year, Fr. David Jenuwine will be offering the traditional Latin Mass of the 1962 Missal once a week every @ Students in Grades 1-12 will all attend (and occasional TK-K on special feasts and occasions). As is always the case, parents are welcome and invited to attend. Those who have never attended the traditional Latin Mass are even more strongly urged to experience this ancient and beautiful expression of our faith.
Students in grades 1-12 will be assessed in math to help us better determine placement for students in grades 7-12 and to provide additional information for math teachers in grades 1-6 to better serve students. Assessments will be evaluated and and students will be placed in math classes beginning Monday, August 27th.
Physical education for students in grades 1-10 begins as well. All students in grades 5-10 are required to purchase a navy blue p.e. shirt from the officeand must have non-form fitting black shorts approaching the knee or black sweat pants (no leggings-style exercise pants or biker shorts are permitted) that can be bought at Walmart, Target, or other stores. Students in grades 1-4 do NOT need a P.E. uniform, but should have all-black athletic type shoes to wear throughout the day.

Our first week of school will close with a full day of classes beginning with Mass @ 7:45 A.M. for students in grades 1-6, language arts assessments to gauge grammar and writing skills in grades 1-12, and an all-school rosary in the chapel at . Dismissal will be at .
That evening, at , our annual mandatory Back-to-School meeting will take place in the newly-dubbed “Trinity Hall” (formerly the Fellowship Hall) with at least one parent from each family required to attend. Be sure to sign in before you enter the meeting to receive a $50 credit at the end of the year. I will give an hour-long presentation about the upcoming school year from . From teachers of grades TK-6 will go back to their homerooms and will be available to answer any of your questions or concerns, or give further detailed and specific information particular to the homeroom. Teachers of grades 7-12 will remain in the hall to do the same. Refreshments will be served beginning at 7:30. See you there!

Our new TK teacher, Eileen Dehzad, has expressed interest in running an aftercare program if there is enough interest from parents. The tentative time will be from on full days and 11:30 A.M. (occasionally ) -5:15 P.M. on half-days. Cost still needs to be determined. If you are interested, please contact Maria Cuevas in the office ASAP.
Please continue to keep Chuck Rowles and his entire extended family in your prayers so that he will be ultimately cured of his stage-4 colon cancer, and that he can return to enjoying a full and active life with his family and friends.
