Tuesday of the Third Week in Ordinary Time
St. Raymond of Pennafort / St. Emerentiana (Old Calendar)
From the Headmaster, John Bertolini
By now, you should have received a formal progress report in the mail since we have now passed the halfway mark of the second trimester. Given that the first part of the second trimester consisted of both Thanksgiving and Christmas break, students understandably have difficulty focusing and developing a rhythm. Fortunately, there is still slightly less than half of the trimester to go. Students who are struggling have plenty of opportunity to improve their grades so that they can still finish the trimester in fine fashion. Please make an appointment to meet your child(ren)’s teacher(s) after school so that they can provide any additional insight and support to assist you as primary educators.
Week in Review (Jan. 16-19)
Thanks to Marissa Amador, Yul & Maria Vieyra, Melissa Buyarski, Julio & Suzanna Rodriguez, Sophia Castañeda, Emily Arend, Maria Cuevas, and Mike & Adriana Mautner for taking time to attend last Thursday’s parents’ guild meeting. It was our best-attended meeting all year. A school carnival in late April was discussed as a good way to help offset costs to refurbish the TK-6 grade girls bathroom and to install new carpeting/flooring in the fellowship hall in time for our annual development dinner on March 10th.
Congratulations to our high school girls basketball team who defeated Alpha Charter last Friday. Our boys came up short, but fought hard.
Thanks to John Corrigan, and Mary and Joe Quinn for attending the workday this past . We spread new bark in the playground and added gravel to the front driveway, filling in holes caused by the recent wet weather.
Our 7/8 girls basketball team fought back after a difficult first half, but ultimately came up short against St. Eugene’s last Saturday. Kudos to them for not giving up and fighting to the end.
A big thank you to Yul & Maria Vieyra, Sophia Castañeda, Sonia Campos-Balderas, Maria Cuevas, and others who spent a better part of their weekend painting the chapel hallway and beginning to refurbish and update the TK-6 girls bathroom. Your help and dedication to the school are very much appreciated.
Mr. Duncan, Mrs. Cuevas, Walt Birdsall, Eric Muth, Tom Huss, Mary Quinn, Everett Buyarksi, Mr. Silvgani, and myself spent time at both St. Apollinaris and St. Thomas Aquinas parishes this past and to provide information about our school and invite interested parents to our upcoming open house on Sat. Feb. 3rd. Thank you to all who those who took time out of their weekend to assist with this recruitment effort.

News and Updates
We Need Your Wine Donations!
Thank you to those who have already generously donated. We need only 35 more bottles of wine for our instant wine cellar raffle (value of $20 and up) for our upcoming Casino Night Fundraiser on Saturday, April 21st. Please be generous as this is our biggest and most important fundraiser of the year and we need it to be a success. And to provide an extra incentive, you will receive a raffle ticket for every bottle donated for a one-night stay at the Indian Springs Resort and Spa in Calistoga. The more you donate, the better chance you have to win! IMPORTARNT CLARIFICATION - Unfortunately, last week’s information in the Tuesday Memo was inaccurate. The prize is NOT a one-night stay at the Indian Resort Springs Resort and Spa in Calistoga, but it is a $100 gift card towards a stay or spa treatment at the resort…..still a pretty good incentive. My apologies for the misleading information.
Thank you for your prayers for Steve Perry. He is home from the hospital and would love to receive visitors during his recovery. Please call first – (707)-649-0475.
Please continue to keep Chuck Rowles and his entire extended family in your prayers so that he will be ultimately cured of his stage-4 colon cancer, and that he can return to enjoying a full and active life with his family and friends. Chuck’s son, Chris, posts updates on the websites listed below. Please continue to pray the St. Peregrine Novena found below as well.
(Donations should go through WonderWe, donations through Caring Bridge do not help Chuck)
