Aug 19 – First Day of School

July 20, 2020

St. Apollinaris, Bishop and Martyr

St. Jerome Emiliani, Confessor (Traditional Calendar)

Given the recent surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, it is very unlikely that all Kolbe-Trinity all students in grades TK-12 will be permitted in-person to attend as planned on August 19th. This is per Governor Newsom’s announcement on Friday that public and private schools in all counties on the watch list for COVID-19 may not open in person until they have been off the watch list for 14 days. Please pray that the situation improves to allow us to re-open for traditional in-class instruction as soon as possible.

Prayer Requests

Please pray for mother-in-law, Mary Bedrosian, who is suffering from COVID-19 along with my father-in-law, Peter Bedrosian, who was recently hospitalized for worsening symptoms of COVID-19.

Please continue to pray for one of our former teachers, Mr. Matt Badley, as the school where he was teaching in Virginia has announced its closure. Please keep him and his large family in your prayers.  Please continue to keep Jay Hipolito’s grandfather, Henry Ramirez, in your prayers as well as Margaret Crotty who is currently afflicted with cancer.

Thank you for your continued prayers for former Kolbe Academy student (and my classmate) Michael Arribage who is currently battling stage-4 kidney cancer. His treatment is moving in a very positive direction.  Please continue your prayers for Joy Gittings, grandmother of Kara Gittings, who is recovering from cancer treatment and for Bethany Pham, an 8-year girl battling cancer who is a student at St. Apollinaris Catholic School. Please continue to make time every evening to pray the Rosary for Our Lady’s intercession against the COVID-19 pandemic, and for John Carr who is attempting a full recovery from cancer.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,

John Bertolini
