June 15 – Registration/Fees Payment for 2020-2021 School Year Due!

Aug 19 – First Day of School

June 8, 2020

Monday of the 10th Week in Ordinary Time

Yesterday’s Solemnity of the Holy Trinity is an important day in the history of Kolbe Academy and Trinity Prep. Twenty-five years ago, the campus of Redwood Baptist Church at 2055 Redwood Rd. in Napa was secured for a lease to offer classes beginning in the fall of 1995. We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to those families that helped to secure the lease of this property. Twenty-five years later, thanks to the generosity of major donors, we now own the property and are already preparing it for another school year which will commence on August 19th.

Although we had already planned on a modest enrollment increase this year, with the unfortunate closure of St. John the Baptist Catholic School, along with the closure of two public schools, Mt. George Elementary and Yountville Elementary, our enrollment is expected to increase substantially. Alongside this increased enrollment comes the need to make our campus safe and secure to re-open with increased expectations of sanitizing, social distancing, etc….Please pray for our staff and board of directors as we move ahead over the summer to prepare our campus to re-open in August.

It was nice to see so many students back on campus last Tuesday, June 2nd, to give students a brief, but meaningful opportunity to officially close out the 2019-2020 school year with their teachers and fellow students. Thank you to the teachers, parents, and students who took the time to make this day possible to end our year on a positive note, and thank you to everyone for their patience and understanding surrounding social distancing and wearing of masks.

Agape Program Update!

The Agape Program continues to serve our community in many ways.  Through its mission, many gifts of the Holy Spirit are happening.  Between 125-150 families (700+ people) are being helped each Wednesday at an open food exchange and Napa County Nurses are being helped by Agape with groceries for COVID-19 positive families (last week there were quite a few).  Families that are able have adopted families in current need by providing weekly groceries anonymously.  Those in need of work are being matched with those that need jobs done.

A beautiful and very pregnant woman started to come for grocery help a few weeks ago.  A member of the Agape team decided to ask our pro-life community to help with an instant baby shower.  The response was immediate and immense.  Not one basket but a baby bath filled, gift bags filled, many boxes of diapers to welcome this precious baby girl in July.  The mother’s reaction to she and her baby being so loved and valued will stay with us forever.

Please continue to support Agape or spread the word to help support Agape.

The list of those helping grows every week.

We had Carol Eaton, Tracy Galindo and her sons Dominic and Noah!  We also had a huge showing of alumni last Wednesday!  Kyle Huss, Jeffrey Healy, Daniel Salinas, Nate Hickey, Nani Hickey, Rachel Kelly, Rafael Figueroa and Sean Quinn all stepped up, with the continued weekly help of Dominic Figueroa.  One of our teachers, Gabrielle Aranas, jumped in to serve.   John Bertolini and Phillip Duncan helped with parking logistics.

June 15 – Registration/Fees Payment for 2020-2021 School Year Due!

Don’t forget that registration payments for the 2020-2021 school year are due a week from today, Monday, June 15th! Paying your registration not only helps us to pay our bills during months when we are not receiving tuition payments and helps us to get a firmer idea of enrollment numbers, even more crucial this year with a substantial enrollment increase expected, compounded by having to reconfigure classrooms on our current campus to provide a safer environment during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Prayer Requests

Please continue to pray for one of our former teachers, Mr. Matt Badley, as the school where he was teaching in Virginia has announced its closure. Please keep him and his large family in your prayers.  Please continue to keep Jay Hipolito’s grandfather, Henry Ramirez, in your prayers as well as Margaret Crotty who is currently afflicted with cancer.

Thank you for your continued prayers for former Kolbe Academy student (and my classmate) Michael Arribage who is currently battling stage-4 kidney cancer. His treatment is moving in a very positive direction.  Please continue your prayers for Joy Gittings, grandmother of Kara Gittings, who is recovering from cancer treatment and for Bethany Pham, an 8-year girl battling cancer who is a student at St. Apollinaris Catholic School. Please continue to make time every evening to pray the Rosary for Our Lady’s intercession against the COVID-19 pandemic, and for John Carr who is attempting a full recovery from cancer.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam
