Jan. 27, 2020

St. Angela Merici, Virgin

St. John Chrysostom, Bishop and Doctor of the Church (Traditional Calendar)

Happy Catholic Schools/School Choice Week! We began today with parent appreciation day and for the rest of the week, every day we will have a special giveaway or fun activity. Thank you, parents, for making the sacrifice to send your child(ren) to  Kolbe-Trinity. We are honored, blessed, and humbled to collaborate with you in the education of your child(ren)!

Our first-ever crab feed fundraiser on Saturday was a phenomenal success which met and exceeded our wildest expectations. Despite a very busy weekend where many of our families and students attended the West Coast Walk for Life in San Francisco, we are expecting to net at least $15,000! The event was a success due to the fact that 80-90% of our families were involved in the event in one form or another. Whether it was purchasing tickets to attend the event, inviting others to join you, helping to secure sponsors, helping out with the event itself, you all contributed to make this a success. Thank you for all of the time and effort you took to support this event!

A big thank you to our sponsors: Davies Foundation, Leavitt Group Insurance, Burbank Housing, Greger Pacific-Marine, Mechanics Bank, and Chateau Montelena Winery for helping us to cover costs and to the Amador, Roche, Mendoza, and extended Muth families for buying large blocks of tickets.  Thank you also to our high school students who helped with serving and clean-up at the event and also assisted with childcare at the school under the outstanding supervision of Sonia Campos-Balderas, Angelica Rowles, and Julio and Susana Rodriguez.

Lastly, specific thanks to four individuals whose efforts stand out: Chef Bob Quinn and his wife Mary, Raffle Basket Coordinator and Floor Manager Anna Hickey, and Logistics Coordinator Maria Cuevas. These individuals put in countless hours to make this event a success from start to finish. We are truly grateful for your dedication.

Jan. 30 – Mark Brumley Series on Benedict XVI’s The Spirit of the Liturgy –

Session 3 @ 7PM

What does it mean to worship God? How ought we to understand the Liturgy? If Jesus came to bring “worship in Spirit and truth”, why do so many Christians worship in a particular place (church), at a particular time (Sundays), following a particular pattern of worship (liturgy and ritual)? Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI answers these and other important questions in his classic work, The Spirit of the Liturgy. Explore his answers as Mark Brumley leads a nine-session course based on The Spirit of the Liturgy. Classes continue on Thursday, January 30, and will also be held on February 6, 13, 27March 5, 12, and 19.

Sessions will begin @ 7:00 P.M. and will take place at the school. No charge. Donations gratefully accepted.
