St. Eusebius, Bishop & Martyr (Traditional Calendar)
By next Monday, Dec. 23rd, we will officially be on Christmas break and the office will be closed. This will be the last Monday memo you will receive until Jan. 6th. I wish you and your family a very blessed remainder of the Advent season, a joyful Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
We had another beautiful celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Thursday, Dec. 12th. A big thank you to Maria Angulo for providing us with pan dulce and a statue of Our Lady for our procession, Tomas and Araceli Cortes for their beautiful Spanish hymns, Ana Montiel and Nora Nava for making and serving Mexican hot chocolate, Isabel Ayala for making and serving posole hot lunch, and to Natividad Zetina, Cristina Uribe, Jorge Ayala, and Maria Romo for assisting with various kitchen-related duties. Your help is very much appreciated.
Our collection for the Catholic missions, which serve the poorest of the poor around the world, is now due this coming Monday, Dec. 16th @ 4:00 P.M. Every year we assist Fr. Gary’s efforts to collect money for the missions to send in time for them to receive it at Christmas. Please bring all your loose and spare change for us to collect.
$100 Family Challenge Update!
Thank you again to the Hill and Andrego families and grandparents John and Mary Ann Haeuser who contributed to our $100-per-family challenge last week and to the Huss, Andrego, Andrade-Zetina, Bakh, Carr, Roche and Muth families, teachers Pam Birsdall and Steven Silvagni, and bookkeeper, Toni Williams, who made generous contributions this week. We would LOVE to be able to inform our generous donors, Terrence and Anna Darby, that our families, with very limited financial resources, sacrificed a minimum of $100 per family and raised $5,000! Please make your donation by Friday, Dec. 20th, @ 4:00 P.M. Thank you for your generosity.
Upcoming School Events
Dec. 19 – Christmas Program @ St. Joan of Arc Hall – 6:30 P.M.
Mark your calendar for next Thursday, Dec. 19th for our annual Christmas program to be once again held at St. Joan of Arc hall in Yountville. All K-6 students and select 7-8 students participating in the program will be asked to show up no later than 6:00 P.M. The program itself will begin at 6:30, but please do plan to arrive early to guarantee a seat. A reception of juice and cookies will follow.
The parents’ guild is asking all families of students in K-2 to bring juice and for families of students in grades 3-6 to bring cookies (no cupcakes, please) and to assist with serving refreshments following the program.
We would also welcome the assistance of parents of 7-12 students who are not participating in the play with either setting up the hall @ 5:30 P.M. or cleaning up the hall @ 7:30 P.M.
We also need a parent volunteer with a truck to pick up platform risers after school and to return them that evening.
Please contact Mrs. Cuevas in the office if you can set up, serve, clean up, or transport risers.
