Dec. 2, 2019

Monday of the First Week of Advent

St. Bibiana, Virgin and Martyr (Traditional Calendar)

Hopefully your long Thanksgiving weekend gave you and your family some time to decompress from school-related matters and a chance to relax. December will be a busy month for everyone so we are focusing on only two major school events in December: the Our Lady of Guadalupe all-school procession, Mass, and reception on Thursday, Dec. 12th and our annual Christmas program on Thursday, Dec. 19thWe will need parental assistance with both of these events so please do make time to attend the parent’s guild meeting this coming Wednesday, Dec. 4th @ 3:00 P.M. to see how you can help.

A big thank you to Maria Angulo, Joan Andrego, Maria Romo and her two high-school age daughters, Carole Duncan, Susana Rodriguez, Cindy Mudge, Anna Hickey, Bob Quinn, and Isabel Ayala for their assistance with our annual appeal letter last Tuesday, Nov. 26th. I greatly appreciate the time you took to assist with this very important fundraising letter as we attempt to raise $50,000 by December 31st.

Upcoming School Event

Dec. 3 – Mission Collection/ $100 Family Challenge Begins!

By now you should have received our annual appeal letter in your mailbox. We sent this letter to over 400 addresses, only 50 or so being school families. I would like each family to prayerfully consider a minimum donation of $100If every family donated $100, we would raise over $5,000 just from our families alone!

Every year, Fr. Gary encourages us to send money to the Catholic missions around the world who provide spiritual, emotional, and physical support to the poor Catholics in other countries.  I would also like to issue a separate challenge for our families to set aside any and all spare change in their homes in a jar for the next two weeks. Please help us help the Catholic missions.

Meal Train for Laura Fidler

A belated congratulations to the Fidler family on the birth of their third child, Liesel! A meal train has been set up by Allison Bertolini and all meals can either be dropped off at the Fidler’s home in American Canyon or here at the school at 2:50. Please visit the following website to sign up! https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/0ykdw9

Upcoming Community Event

Dec. 2 – 7:00 P.M.- Love and Mercy: Faustina Movies - Fairfield & Vallejo Theatres

Due to its astonishing box office success for its previous one-night Fathom Event theater showing in 700 theaters across the country, the powerful new docu-drama, Love and Mercy: Faustina will have another Fathom Event theatrical screening on Mon. night, Dec. 2, at 7pm in theaters across the country. For the previous one-night showing Love and Mercy came in #2 in box office revenues among all theatrical films, only behind "Joker" (which played in 3,900 theaters).

St. Faustina Kowalska was a Polish nun who had mystical visions of Jesus revealing his powerful Divine Mercy for humanity, asking her to be his messenger to spread devotion to his Mercy. She became his great messenger until her death at age 33 in 1938 and was canonized by John Paul II in 2000.  For those in the Napa/Vallejo area the film will play in theaters in Vallejo and Fairfield (not Napa this time).
