November 25, 2019

St. Catherine of Alexandria, Virgin and Martyr

We did it! Due to your amazing children and you, the parents, we not only reached our goal of raising $7,000 with our Christmas wreath sales, but we exceeded it by netting over $9,000! As we approach Thanksgiving, I am truly blessed and thankful for all of our students, parents, faculty, staff, and board members @ Kolbe-Trinity. I wish you and your family a very joyful Thanksgiving holiday.

A big thank you to all of the people assisted with last Thursday’s pre-Thanksgiving soup lunch. Specifically, I would like to thank all of the families who made soup: Rowles, Madigan-Heun, Angulo, Cuevas, Montiel, Muth, Duncan, Toni Williams, Silvio Bertolini, and Ayala families. Thank you also to Wendy Huss, Nora Nava, and Isabel Ayala and her mother, Soledad, for assisting with cleanup. Let’s also not forget to thank Miss Wilson’s 1-2 grade class for the wonderful placemats they made! And thank you to all of the families who contributed juice, bread, and dessert!

Upcoming Community Events

Nov. 30 (SA) – 7:00 P.M. – Advent Carols & Lessons Service @ St. Apollinaris

The Men’s Scola of Holy Family Mission in Rutherford is proud to present a festival of Advent Carols & Lessons on Saturday, Nov. 30th @ 7:00 P.M. @ St. Apollinaris Church in Napa. The service will feature hymns for the congregation to sing along with, some Gregorian chants sung by the scola alone, interspersed with readings from both the Old and New Testaments. It’s a great way to prepare yourself for the Advent season and ring in the liturgical new year.

Dec. 2 – 7:00 P.M.- Love and Mercy: Faustina Movies - Fairfield & Vallejo Theatres

Due to its astonishing box office success for its previous one-night Fathom Event theater showing in 700 theaters across the country, the powerful new docu-drama, Love and Mercy: Faustina will have another Fathom Event theatrical screening on Mon. night, Dec. 2, at 7pm in theaters across the country. For the previous one-night showing Love and Mercy came in #2 in box office revenues among all theatrical films, only behind "Joker" (which played in 3,900 theaters).

St. Faustina Kowalska was a Polish nun who had mystical visions of Jesus revealing his powerful Divine Mercy for humanity, asking her to be his messenger to spread devotion to his Mercy. She became his great messenger until her death at age 33 in 1938 and was canonized by John Paul II in 2000.  For those in the Napa/Vallejo area the film will play in theaters in Vallejo and Fairfield (not Napa this time).

Prayer Requests

Please continue to pray for former Kolbe Academy student (and my classmate) Michael Arribage who is currently battling stage-4 kidney cancer and also for John Carr who had cancer surgery last week. Thank you for your prayers!
