Our international food fundraiser is less than two weeks away on Sunday, September 22nd! Thank you to the Bakh, Cuevas, Hill, Silvio Bertolini, Flores-Aparacio, Ferrigan, Buyarski, Carole Duncan, Hickey, Rodriguez, Madigan-Heun, Friedlander, Andrade, Angulo, Ayala, Kelly, Quinn, and Mudge families for signing up to run a booth! We will have one final planning meeting during the week of Sep. 16-20 which will be announced soon so be sure to check your e-mail frequently!
Last week was short, but busy! Snow cones sales last Tuesday were so good that we sold out at lunch. We regret that we were not able to serve all interested parties and will do our best to increase our supplies for next time!
It was great seeing the Woodward, Montiel, Andrade, Quinn, Andrego, Friedlander, Bakh, Bertolini, Roche, Arnason, and Healey families at our monthly First Friday school Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas. Our next First Friday Mass will occur on Friday, October 4th, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. Please join us!
Upcoming School Events
Sep. 11 – Hot Lunch -$5 – Chicken Strips W/French Fries & Fruit - Parents Guild Meeting – 3:00 P.M. (Note Time Change!)
Given our new parent-led hot lunch (thank you, Maria Angulo and Leticia Pineda-Mendoza!), we will need to make the process of ordering and payment as simple as possible. Please give a $5 cash (no checks, please) directly to each child who is ordering. Do NOT send money to the office. If you prefer to give money to the homeroom teacher in grades K-4, that is fine. Lunch orders will take place on Monday morning immediately following Mass so please verify with your children whether they will be ordering. A schedule for all hot lunches through Nov. 6 has been attached to this memo.
Our monthly parent’s guild meeting will take place the same day at the new time of 3:00 P.M. We still in need officers, particularly president and vice-president. Please join us!
Sep. 13 – Free Dress for Summer Reading Winners (Usual Modesty Rules Apply)
Free dress still requires attire that is neat, clean and modest. Shirts must not have inappropriate logos, words, pictures, etc. If in doubt about the appropriateness of a logo, word, or picture, do not wear the shirt. At their discretion, teachers and administrators may ask a student to change attire, call home, or sit out from a field trip for inappropriate attire. Unless otherwise noted, shorts and sweats are not allowed for free dress. When allowed, shorts and pants must not be too short or too tight, as determined by the administration or faculty. This explicitly applies to PE and sports practices, as well as free dress. Flannel/pajama/yoga-style exercise pants are never allowed without explicit approval. Tank tops are not permitted, including for sports practices. Halter tops, spaghetti straps, etc., are never permitted.
Mass Schedule Reminder
Monday – Traditional Latin Mass – 7:45 A.M.
Tuesday – Morning Prayer (No Mass)
Wednesday-Friday – English Novus Ordo Mass – 7:45 (No morning Mass on First Fridays)
Updated emergency cards are still due! If you have already filled out an updated one for this year, thank you! If not, please do it ASAP so that we can have the important information we need in the unlikely event of an illness or injury. Thank you!
I am happy to announce that our own Aaron and Laura Fidler have starting up an extracurricular 1-8 grade choir that will meet after school on Tuesdays from 2:50 – 3:35 in the hall. There will be a small fee for materials, and a very reasonable fee for the course which covers the entire school year. Please see the attachment in today’s memo for more information.
