May 7, 2019

Tuesday of the Third Week of Easter

St. Stanislaus, Bishop & Martyr (Traditional Calendar)

From the Headmaster, John Bertolini

I am still very hopeful that we can reach the very ambitious goal of $35,000 for our Jog-a-Thon. So far we have received almost $21,000 which puts us a little more than $14,000 away from our goal.

A big thank you to all of the parents who volunteered  to assist on the day leading up and the day of the event: Maria Cuevas, Laura Lepe-Garcia (and lunch crew), Natividad Zetina, Melissa Buyarski, Nate Wentzel, Sue Arend, Janet Bakh, Jenny Alba, Glynna de Cicco, Sonia Campos-Balderas, William and Odemaris Flores-Aparacio, Katie Ferrigan, Hilary Haeuser, Isabel Ayala, Lauren Maykowski, Marissa Amador, Ernesto and Xochitl Martinez, Beto Benitez, Maria Angulo, Leticia Mendoza, Cindy Carr, Katie Duncan, and I’m sure there are many others I may not be aware of. This was truly a team effort from start to finish and I am deeply appreciative for all of the hard work. A big thank you overall to chairwoman,Mary Quinn, and St. Helena/Calistoga coordinator, Andrea Garcia.

Thank you to the Warner family who collected their pledged donations over the weekend and submitted them yesterday. There are still many envelopes that were returned Friday and Monday for students to collect their per-lap amount and/or any outstanding flat-rate donations. Also, 47 out of 116 students did not turn in any Jog-a-Thon folders Friday or yesterday. If you have your folder and received donations, please bring your folder in by this Friday, May 10th, with all pledged money collected and accounted for so that we can have a final amount to announce by May 17th.

Thank you to Katie Duncan and alumnus Marcie Hall for helping to prepare chili dogs for last Wednesday’s hot lunch.

Congratulations to Trinity Prep graduate Clare Quinn who was united in matrimony to Wesley Wade of North Carolina this past Saturday.

One last thank you to all of those who helped to raise funds for the American Heart Association in February with Jump-Rope-for-Heart. Our final total is $1,148. 83. Thank you to all of those who participated, and to Whitney Balderas-Campos who raised $233, Wyatt Balderas-Campos who raised $133, and Austin Degrange who raised $125.

May 10 – May Crowning/Dia de las Madres/Marian Raffle – Jog-a-Thon Money Due! –K-8 Track Meet @ 4:00 P.M. at Justin-Siena

Since May is traditionally the month of Mary, we will be having our annual May Crowning this coming Friday, May 10th @ 7:45 A.M. We will begin with a procession to the altar with flowers to present to Our Lady and all-school sung Mass. There will be a coffee, juice, and donuts reception after Mass in honor of our lady, and also (for the first time) to honor all mothers on Dia de las Madres which occurs the same day. I would like to extend a special invitation to all mothers to attend the process, Mass, and reception.

Recent first-communicants are encouraged to wear their first communion attire and all students will be permitted to wear their Sunday best, provided it is appropriately modest.  And as always, we are asking everyone to bring flowers!

At noon, we will hold our annual Marian raffle with proceeds to help support the sacristy fund. Tickets can be purchased in the office for $.25 each or 5 for $1. Items that can be won are displayed on a table in the office.

May 15 -Volunteer Appreciation Dinner – 5:30 – 7:30 P.M.

If you are one of the vast majority of parents who helps to volunteer in one form or another at the school, we wish to honor your work and dedication next Wednesday beginning at 5:30 P.M.  Please bring your family for dinner, drinks, and fellowship.

You will be receiving an e-mail invitation no later than tomorrow, May 8th. Please RSVP no later than this Friday, May 10th @ 4:00 P.M.

Important School Announcements!

Items Needed for TK Atrium

Our list is much shorter now, but we are still in need of the following (less expensive) items and need assistance to prepare our new atrium in the cry room behind the chapel so that we can provide the best possible environment for our TK students to enrich their new experience with theCatechesis of the Good Shepherd.

Fabric in four solid liturgical colors: purple, white, green, red. (Thank you, Denise Davis!)

Someone to make and install a narrow window sill.

Someone to sand/prime and paint cabinet doors.

One resin Good Shepherd statue.

Thank you!
