Family Service Opportunities

Kolbe-Trinity depends on its families performing service hours throughout the year for such matters as maintenance, facilities improvements, fund-raising activities, classroom support, lunchtime yard duty, driving for sports or field trips, etc.  Each family is required to offer at least 30 hours per year.

CURRENT LIST OF OPPORTUNITIES:

 

One-Time Tasks

Electrical:

  • replace burned out fluorescent bulb (check ballasts) in 1-2 classroom
  • replace motion sensor and light bulb outside of 7-8 classroom
  • replace light bulb in motion sensor outside door of 9-10 classroom
  • install new plastic covers for unused telephone jacks in old office (next to kindergarten room)
  • replace broken flood light bulb fixtures in main office
  • replace bad ballasts and install new lightbulbs in Mr. Bertolini’s office
  • replace bad ballasts in fellowship hall florescent lights
  • replace floodlight fixture over altar in chapel
  • replace broken flood light fixtures in carport in front of office
  • replace broken light fixture on south end of the lower level of the main building

 

Yard Work:

  • trim branches near play structure in T-K yard
  • chop down remainder of plum tree in T-K yard
  • pull weeds in gravel lot and garden by playground
  • dispose of rotten garden boxes
  • prepare for winter garden
  • pull weeds in play structure
  • pull debris off fence

 

Doors/Windows/Screens:

  • repair broken latch of 5/6 classroom
  • replace broken window fixture in 5/6 classroom
  • replace broken window fixture in 9/10 classroom
  • clean out debris in skylights screens of fellowship hall and kitchen

 

Roof/Gutters:

  • rake debris off modular roofs
  • clean out gutters of all modulars
  • clean out gutters on main building

 

Carpentry:

  • saw small slit in front of 5/6 classroom and 7/8 classroom to facilitate better drainage
  • cut and install new doors for storage sheds in gravel lot
 

Hauling: Take hazardous materials and garbage to dump

 

Misc Repairs:

  • buy new hardware and repair metal picnic bench behind modulars
  • buy new wheel and attach to bbq grill in cave.

 

Misc Task: Crawl under modulars and retrieve old balls and assorted debris

 

On-Going Maintenance and Other Work:

Sports: Drive for away games/work concession stands

Yard Duty: Help monitor lunch with a teacher

Fundraisers: Assist with Fall Jamboree

Classroom Help: Volunteer as Room Mom (or Dad) and spend one day a month helping teacher on a Saturday.

Cleaning: Deep clean kitchen every Friday/ wipe off metal and wooden picnic tables

 

Nov. 5th Workday

  • Maintenance Work for October Transitional Kindergarten - trim branches near play structure/ chop down remainder of plum tree (sawzall needed for both)
  • 1-2: replace burned out fluorescent bulb (check ballasts)/ Bracket shelves to walls
  • 5-6: fix door locking mechanism/ cut to size and replace translucent light covers/ hang up projector screen
  • 7-8: replace motion sensor and light bulb outside/ fix door locking mechanism
  • 9-10: Window latch (top, right window in the southwest window unit) needs repair-replacement/replace light bulb in motion sensor outside door
  • Modular Classrooms – Trim branches hanging over roofs (sawzall needed)
  • Old Office – replace cracked window 33 and 3/4 X 45 (Napa Valley Glass)/install new plastic covers for unused telephone jacks
  • Office – Replace burned out light bulb fixtures/ chop down dead palm tree (need chainsaw)
  • Mr. Bertolini’s Office – Replace bad ballasts and install new lightbulbs
  • Fellowship Hall –replace broken skylight screen (need small wrench set)/ clean out skylight screens/replace bad ballasts/ bracket shelves to wall
  • Chapel –replace floodlight fixture over altar
  • Parking Overhang – Replace broken light fixtures
  • Kitchen –Clean out skylight screens/ Deep clean
  • 7-12 Boys Bathroom –replace fan cover/ replace ballasts for fluorescent lights
  • Outside Walkway in Main Building -Replace bad light fixture on south end of the lower level
  • Deck –retrieve old balls and trash underneath modulars/ use saw to cut small slit in front of 5/6 classroom to provide drainage of water (need sawzall)/ fix
  • Play Structure – Tighten bolts (Phil Duncan has tool)
  • Front Driveway –Level out gravel
  • Gravel Parking Lot – Pull weeds (need garden gloves and weeding supplies) and clear out debris/Measure for and install new doors on all sheds
  • Garden – Pull weeds and remove clutter (need garden gloves and weeding supplies)
  • Cave –Remove organ and post on craigslist - attach new wheel to bbq grill
  • Lunch Area – Pull debris off fence and fix metal picnic bench/ spread new bark
  • Former Stage Area – purchase and install device to contain loose electrical non-active wire Baseball/Volleyball Field – Rake away dead redwood branches HAUL AWAY HAZARDOUS MATERIALS
